Half-Blood Prince
I'll comment more lengthily when I've stopped reeling from it at a later time. I promise, no spoilers here, just vague stuff.

I decided not to speed read it, because I did that for both Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix, and I didn't read either again for over a year. I made that choice because I didn't want to feel the pressure to read it first - and, hah, fat chance of that for living in California, one of the last time zones to receive the book. I'm glad I made that choice to read Half-Blood Prince with that in mind.

It's good, really good, until probably the last chapter, but god, I've just spent the last 16 hours reading, interspersed with several hours of sleep, and . . . it's just that good.

I'm disappointed that the spoiler I saw was correct, and that guy should burn in hell for being an asshole; however, it didn't do much to affect me, because I kept forgetting I'd seen that rumor and it made sense when it happened. I see what happened as a sign of something much larger, which as I said, to anyone who cares, I'll discuss later. I'm amused to reflect that I was sure I knew who the Half-Blood Prince was as I got into the book and was duly thwarted by my own thoughts and plot occurences, which thereafter I was kicked in the butt and turned out to be right in the first place. I'm also disappointed in certain characters' actions and certain characters' pairings (which seemed, at best, half-assed and not fleshed out), but again I'll talk about that later.

Oh, JKR, a mixture of love and frustration goes out to you, but thank you.

I bascially slept a bit here and there too, but mostly read nonstop. I finished it this afternoon. I think it's still her best by far. But I don't know if she can wrap the series up in just one book anymore.

If she does, I think it'll be longer than OotP...

Oh, most definitely. I don't know how she could pull it off if it wasn't longer.

Shayna! Shayna, Shayna. I just finished reading and I am all oo-gy and wounded and elated and oh my heart bleeds. Woe.

This must be shock.

Robyn! I was just thinking about you, because I have your Spirit Room art on my wall and I was pondering what to do now with all my fan fic writing now that I've read HBP...

I am all oo-gy and wounded and elated and oh my heart bleeds. Woe. This must be shock.

I definitely think it's shock. I'm thinking of all the potential avenues that HP has left to go, and I've started dreaming I really want to talk to someone face-to-face about it, but none of my friends at home have read it yet! :(

Dude, I know! No one I know 'round these parts is as Harry Potter-obsessed as I am. So even if someone finishes reading HBP sometime soon, they will just be weirded out by my "Did you read? -- and -- oh my god -- and the part -- Snape -- Harry -- Draco -- DUMBLEDORE!"

I am cheese and I stand alone.

But enough about me! How are you?

I was just wondering if you had any information on when the seventh book comes out? I have been a big fan of your website for the past five years, and you always seem to know more about this stuff than other people, lol. My life seriously has no meaning until I have that book in my hands! lol! I have to agree with most of what you said about the sixth, especially the part about the character pairings (wtf!?!) and i just need to know more! Thank you so much for your glorious site!

Alyssa

PS. I am still waiting for the rest of The Enemy Series, lol!

Hey Shayna!! I have to apologize, because I swear I saw you at Barnes and Noble at midnight, and I didn't say hi cause I wasn't sure if you'd remember me, but now I'm sure that you would have said hi and everything, so, anyway... Hi.

Finished the book on Saturday. Loved it and hated it with all my heart (but not like OotP, no, not at all like OotP). And once again it's time to wait. Like you I've spent so much of my life waiting for 'the next Harry Potter' and never really thought the time would come to be thinking about 'the last Harry Potter.' Wow is all there is to it.

Brianna

P.S. I too am in the excruciating pain of waiting for my friends to finish the book, so give me a call if you want to talk... We can go sit at Starbucks and chat again, lol...

Hello. I really love your log and I also like your site: www.harrypotterrealm.com Anyway, I was up until 4:30 A.M., reading the last chapters of the new book. I was a puddle of tears to say the least! :*( I couldn't believe that she put that ending on it! Very unexpected. I figured she would have kept Dumbledore alive until the last book, prove Snape was innocent and get Harry and Hermione together... sadly mistaken. I think that is why she did what she did... to do something no one would ever expect... Anyways, keep updating (I love your stuff) and ttyl!

Oh! I hope you do another post-reading the book meme like with OotP. What can I say, it's been two years and I remember it. It was a great meme! :-D

Oh, JKR, a mixture of love and frustration goes out to you, but thank you.

Word.

I feel rather awkward writing this, but I feel I have no other choice. I am simply a humble fan of your website. I wish to commend you on your astonishing talent in writing. Also, to say that reading your pieces gave me the push to finish my own works that I thought would come to nothing. And now typing is like breathing! I do not write HP fan-fiction, but fiction nonetheless. Writing is the only aspect of my life I have ever accomplished with pride, and I want to thank you for your inspiration. As a side-note, I'm afraid I have to admit that I thought you had abandoned your website completely, I am glad to discover that you yourself visit still. Could I perhaps ask when you will be extending your portfolio? I am rather anxious to continue reading.
On a more related subject, I am quite relieved to finally find a place to vent about my feelings toward HBP. Although I am sure to be crucified for my thoughts, I must say I have rarely been so disappointed as I was after completing the book. Not solely because of the death— for I understand such things are necessary and accommodating for the future— but disappointed in the very style of writing, the development of the characters and their relationships, and the overall dismal outlook on the scope of the entire story. When I finished the book, I cried as everyone else did, not from events in the story, but from the realization that I was no longer looking forward to book seven. I am sorry to be so depressing, yet I respect the variation of opinion toward HBP, and am thoroughly pleased that so many enjoyed it.
Again, thank you for your exploitation. Fare you well.

Yours sincerely,
Gwen

You could maybe comment at greater length now, unless you have an extraordinarily long stamina for reeling. Please and thank you!
